About the team we are recruiting to

R&M is a service area within Coventry City Council which provides repair and maintenance services to Coventry City’s operational, commercial and school portfolio.  We have a dedicated team with over 30 years’ experience of completing emergency and responsive repairs, planned preventative maintenance schedules and property improvements and refurbishments. 

The R&M team is multi-disciplined providing building works, refurbishments, general maintenance, gas servicing, maintenance and installations, electrical works and a 24 hour a day, 365 days a year emergency call out service across all trades.

The service area aims to:

  • Ensure that the all statutory compliance with industry standards, British standards and relevant Approved Codes of Practice are achieved.
  • Repairs are carried out swiftly and to a high standard
  • Projects are delivered on time and on budget

What is the job role?

This is an exciting time for you to join our team as a Facilities Support Manager. Each day you will be faced with a new challenge and be required to manage many aspects of the department from reactive emergency call outs, planned project work and planned preventative maintenance. As part of this role you will have to demonstrate an understanding in leading and managing an internal technical support team within a repairs and maintenance department. You will work under the general direction of the Head of Repairs & Maintenance.  

You will lead and direct a team of work planners, material buyers and storeman as well as being a direct point of contact for our external customer services team. You will also manage and maintain material supplier contracts, regularly reviewing supplier performance and prices to ensure they are meeting KPI’s. 

Key Responsibilities include;

  • Day to day management of the internal support team.
  • Ensure SLA’s are met for planned & reactive maintenance and Minor New works.
  • Manage and maintain material supplier contracts
  • Providing quotations for minor planned works.
  • Project management of minor planned works
  • Provide regular updates to management on the performance of the department identifying key issues and needs. 

Who are we looking for?

As Facilities support manager your role will be to manage the internal technical support team within the repairs and maintenance department. This role requires strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the repairs and  maintenance department
Supporting management where required with the use of performance and financial reporting including assisting with improving performance and efficiencies across all work streams to achieve full contractual compliance via pro-active report management.
