The Participation Team work to support and empower children and young people to have a voice about the decisions that affect them. This includes how we plan, deliver and evaluate services and the development of policy and practice to ensure children and young people are kept at the centre of children’s services.
What is the job role?
We are recruiting for an apprentice to join our Participation Team. The participation team delivers a range of different events throughout the year, as well as delivering training to Social Workers and consulting young people to support and empower children and young people to have a voice in the decisions that affect them.
The apprentice role is key to this, and the successful candidate will be involved in planning events, supporting groups, and helping to capture young people's voices to help us deliver and evaluate services across the Council. The team also works alongside colleagues in the development of policy and practice to ensure children and young people are kept at the centre of children’s services.
This apprenticeship role is a fixed-term contract for 18 months in line with the length of the apprenticeship training.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

- Someone who is very organised.
- Highly motivated with good attention to detail.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Exceptional people skills, and ability to work with all ages.
- Understanding of the needs of looked after children.
You will receive on-the-job training and will be supported to complete the Level 3 Events Assistant Apprenticeship Standard and Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required).

The application and selection process for candidates is as follows:
Stage 1 – Pre-interview* is scheduled for Thursday 9th November
Stage 2 – is scheduled for Wednesday 25th November (face-to-face)
* (The pre-interview is a short session to give you further details of the apprenticeship role and to help you understand what to expect and how to prepare for the final interview. You will also complete a short diagnostic assessment to check the level of Maths and English that you are currently working at and identify any support you may require).
