We are looking for individuals to join our COVID-19 Test & Trace team to help support the city, businesses and residents to deal with outbreaks and learn to live with COVID-19.
What is the job role?

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team working in response to COVID-19, based in the Public Health Team.
We are looking for someone with detailed knowledge of the law relating to health & safety and infectious disease control. You will have demonstratable practical experience in health & safety and infectious disease control in the public or private sector.
You will have experience in prioritising workloads and meeting deadlines and must be able to receive and record information accurately and write reports, including prosecution reports, following complaints, investigations or projects.
In your role you will be asked to do site visits, therefore you must be able to visit premises; inspect and audit systems and procedures, examine, test and sample items and interpret results of analysis
Main work duties will include but will not be limited to the following:
- Undertake the investigation of complex COVID-19 cases and completion of follow up investigations.
- Investigation of complaints and enquiries relating to COVID-19, ensuring that all relevant legislation and guidance is being complied with.
- Taking appropriate action under the relevant statutory provisions to ensure the department's objectives are met.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for qualified Environmental Health Practitioners who have detailed knowledge of the law relating to Environmental Health issues, investigative techniques and law of evidence. Competency in and recent experience of enforcing health and safety and public health legislation, particularly in relation to COVID-19 is highly desirable.
You must be able to demonstrate your ability to receive and record information accurately and skills in report writing. You will be working on a project related to the current pandemic so prioritising workloads and meeting deadlines is key.
To apply for this role, you must possess a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent) and be EHRB registered with the CIEH. When applying for this role you will be asked to write a personal statement, please include the following examples in your application:-
- How you are able to receive and record information accurately.
- Demonstrable practical experience in several areas of work within an Environmental Health environment; a focus on health and safety, COVID-19 and Public Health will be desirable.
- How you have worked in partnership with others to achieve a mutual goal.
