What is the job role?
Group 4 School - NOR 585
Required: asap – 12 month fixed term in the first instance to August 2021.
Templars is a friendly and welcoming school where all staff are valued and supported to reach their full potential. Our staff are happy and vacancies are rare, but we are delighted to be able to recruit a new team member to support our school improvement plans in the recovery period following the school closures earlier this year.
We are looking for a special person to join our team to support children to catch up with reading, phonics and literacy across the whole school. Templars is forward-thinking in its English provision, crafting our own bespoke curriculum that has been carefully developed to suit both our children’s strengths and complement our wider curriculum offer. We have worked hard to ensure that our children are engaged within a curriculum that has high expectations for all learners. With a wide range of reading opportunities at the heart of our curriculum, we encourage all of our staff to show a keen interest in children’s literature and be reading role models.
The successful candidate will work with individuals and small groups of pupils to identify gaps in their literacy, communication and early reading. He or she will be able to swiftly and independently identify pupil needs before subsequently planning and delivering appropriate lessons, interventions and support to help them to rapidly catch up. This role will require a teacher who is committed, independent, self-motivated, reliable and capable of ensuring outstanding pupil progress in Literacy across the school.
The position is suitable for candidates with a range of teaching backgrounds as long as you’re able to demonstrate significant experience in teaching Literacy/Phonics and have a desire to teach across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Due to the specific focus of this role, candidates will also need to show clear experience and successful results using a structured phonics programme.
