The Employment & Skills Service is part of Coventry City Council.  We work with a range of delivery partners to provide a wide portfolio of top quality support to Coventry residents of all ages who are looking for work.  We work with partners across the city and our Employer Hub actively works with local employers to generate opportunities for local people. 

Our friendly and welcoming Job Shop is situated in Coventry City Centre. We are here to support all Coventry residents to search for employment, training, apprenticeships and work placements.  People can explore a wide range of local vacancies that are updated daily and access training opportunities.  

We also provide ground-breaking specialist support for local residents who face multiple and sometimes complex barriers that make it hard for them to find a job.  The Job Shop and our exciting range of specialist employment support programmes are among the very best support available in the UK 

What is the job role?

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Employment and Skills Service and be part of our Adult Education provision through the Connect2 ESF funded programme.  This initiative was set up to ensure Coventry residents receive high quality and personalised support, enabling them to move closer to and into good quality employment.

Fixed Term Contract until 31/03/2023.

This role involves managing a team of Job Coaches who will be working with individuals, ensuring that customers participating in Adult Education receive support to develop their skills to secure work.  Your team will support learners alongside their courses to secure good quality employment through tailormade action plans and reviews.

This role involves working with adults and vulnerable individuals who have varying kinds of disabilities including learning disabilities.

The role involves

  • Working efficiently with delivery staff and Managers within Adult Education to Identify people who would like support through Connect2 in order to reach their employment aspirations through personalised action planning and 1:1 support.
  • Maintaining and completing accurate records to meet ESF requirements, checking eligibility evidence and supporting management to ensure that ESF targets and a quality customer journey is achieved.

 

The team works across the various Adult Education sites in the city and work with individuals currently undertaking a learning qualification through the Adult Education Service.

Job Coaches are responsible for carrying out 1:1 support through a blended approach of centre visits and virtual appointments with each learner to identify opportunities into employment or a positive destination.  

The team carry out focused assessments and create a clear plan of action which will enable the individual to move closer to and into education/training or good quality and sustainable employment.

Your role will support the team with accessing suitable resources, partners and support agencies, as individuals can face barriers in reaching their career aspirations or employment. 

Who are we looking for?

You will need to inspire others through your strong leadership skills and capability to enhance team and participant outcomes into a positive destination.

You will lead, motivate, develop and performance manage the team to continuously improve and increase their capability to deliver a high - quality service against performance/ project targets, ensuring customer service standards are maximised for sustainable employment or education.

As an experienced people and performance manager who has proven ability to manage and motivate a remote team you will consistently review caseloads for customer/learner engagement and outcomes with each Job Coach, providing clear direction through weekly briefings, regular formal 121’s and robust calendar management for productivity.  You will provide guidance to each Job Coach for their assigned route on the best methods to maximise engagement whilst navigating curriculum timetables.

You will have the ability to identify underperformance and prioritise team members for additional support to enhance capability for the achievement of key performance indicators and meet overall responsibilities within their job role.

As Delivery Manager you will be confident in supporting and motivating the remote team daily, not only at learning centres but also by being responsive through digital platforms.  You will support communications and encourage fluid working relationships across both the Job Shop and within Coventry’s Adult Education centres for the success of the project.

You will be instrumental in auditing and ensuring all ESF paperwork generated by the team is accurate and compliant for each quarter claim, along with participant records to reflect a clear customer journey in accordance with quality standards and funding guidelines.
