The service reflects and responds to the changing needs of children and their families. It works to enable a reflective and flexible approach, with a strong Early Help offer and a real focus on Relationship Based Practice and Signs of Safety, which focuses on intervention and keeping families together.

The Placements Team is responsible for sourcing quality residential, fostering and supported accommodation placements for children and young people who are in need of protection and are not able to live with their families.
When a placement is required the team will contact and liaise with internal provisions and independent providers to identify a suitable placement match. The team collate the potential options and shares them with the Social Workers or Personal Advisor to identify the most appropriate placement for the child or young person.

Do you have experience of working within a residential setting with ‘looked after’ children and young people?
Coventry City Council has 5 homes for children across the city,operating as small family style homes with each caring for up to four young people .
We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate and resilliant Deputy Manager with a good knowledge of residential care and experience of managing staff.
We strive to achive positive outcomes for our vulnerable children, through the delivery of high quality children’s residential care for those children in need of this level of support, many of whom have additional needs and may have experienced trauma.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
You will need to provide effective support to your staff team, identifying strengths and gaps in knowledge and skills and support them with the with the implementation of care plans.
You will provide supervision, training and professional development opportunities to your team and across the wider service.
You will participate in the recruitment and selection of employees, their induction and post-appointment assessments.
You will need to work to the existing ethos, polices and procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and respond positively to new initatives, implementing change as needed, whilst also having a good understanding of the legislative requirements of the role.
You need to be able to use your own initiative and be expected to run the home in the managers absence, undertake on call duties as part of a rota and at times be required to work shifts.
