What is the job role?

We require a Best Interest Assessor, qualified to undertake assessments as part of our dedicated Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team based at Friargate in Coventry.

The role will require you to have detailed knowledge and understanding of the application of the Mental Capacity Act.

You will be required to triage and prioritise assessment requests on a duty basis and deliver at least 3 assessments per week ready for Authorisation.

You will also be invited to offer your expertise to Adult Social Care and Children’s Team colleagues and help prepare reports for the Court of Protection when required.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

 

Who are we looking for?

If you are ready for the challenge of working within the team you will need to have:

  • Advanced assessment skills
  • Detailed knowledge of and application of the MHA, MCA, The Care Act and Children’s Act
  • Organisation, recording and workload management skills
  • Diplomacy, negotiating, listening skills.
  • To work in partnership with users, carers and colleagues.
  • To work as part of a team 
  • Autonomy and decision-making skills
  • Develop personal home treatment plans
  • Good IT skills
