About the team we are recruiting to

Cyber Security is a critical area within ICT and the council. We have overarching responsibility to protect the organisation, our employees and digital assets against cyber threats. 

You will be joining an established team of 4 members; a Lead and 3 Security Officers. On a daily basis, we use a wide range of security tools and systems in order to monitor, detect and prevent threats. We also provide guidance and support for end users on security matters. We run our own internal security projects to advance our technology and processes as well as supporting other teams in ICT with their projects. 

What is the job role?

We're currently looking for a Cyber Security Analyst on a full time, permanent basis. As part of the Cyber Security Team the Cyber Security Analyst will have an overarching objective of protecting the Council and its data from cyber threats.

Day to day tasks will involve:- investigating security alerts and providing incident response, handling customer requests and utilising multiple security systems. 

Some examples include:- Microsoft security portals (covers multiple domains), Motion (service desk), Mimecast (email), Smoothwall (Webfiltering), Fortigate (firewalls), Logpoint and Azure Sentinel (SIEM), Vulnerability Scanning (Nessus).

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who has the following experience:

  • Have an interest in Cyber Security and be keen to learn/develop both skills and knowledge in this field. 
  • Will be able to sensitively handle confidential data from a variety of sources
  • Be expected to manage own time and prioritise own workload
  • Have an ability to focus for long periods of time
  • To process data with a high degree of accuracy
  • To have excellent customer service skills
