About the team we are recruiting to

The Education Entitlement Service (EES) strives to deliver outstanding services for our customers, predominately the children of Coventry, who may be requiring access to education or alternative education provision. We ensure vulnerable children are appropriately supported; have a voice, that hopefully leads to their high achievement and excellent progress.

The EES is made up of a diverse range of teams all working together to recognise, support and apply innovative solutions to address the growing issues in relation to trying to educate some of our most vulnerable pupils in schools. 

The Outdoor Education Service made up of experienced staff members provides high quality outdoor and residential experiences within the beautiful Snowdonia National Park.

What is the job role?

You will be working in a casual capacity to cover staff absence and school holidays to provide meals for the groups staying at Plas Dol y Moch Outdoor Education Centre in accordance with the catering policies and procedures to the standard required, including the provision of special diets. 

You will be responsible for receiving serving and storing food in accordance with Food Safety regulations and COSHH.

Your duties will include the preparation of food, cooking and serving of food, and the supervision of other kitchen staff ensuring hygiene, health, and safety procedures are followed.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have knowledge of practical catering operations and procedures
• Have knowledge of Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and Personal Hygiene within a catering environment
• Able to lead and supervise a team of employees, delegate & motivate
• Able to adapt meals to meet the needs of individual children for medical or dietary purposes
• Hold a City and Guilds 706/1 and 706/2, relevant NVQ, or appropriate current experience working in an industrial kitchen
