Construction - Project Manager

About the team we are recruiting to

Coventry City Council's busy Project Delivery Team takes the lead in delivering the City's capital build programme.  The team are responsible for developing, enabling and delivering a wide variety of key building and infrastructure projects across the city with a wide range of stakeholders and partner organisations.  

The team work on a wide variety of projects and programmes ranging from: 

  • New build and refurbishment of schools: 

  • Leisure facilities 

  • New office facilities 

  • Parks and play areas 

  • Multi storey carr parks and infrastructure schemes, and 

  • Demolition works.  

Project budgets range from £100k to £40million and often work extends beyond the Council delivering strategically important projects with partner organisations.  

The City is expanding, second only to London, and the skyline is charging rapidly.  The Project Delivery Team sit at the heart delivering the City's priority projects making life within the team busy, and often challenging.  No two days are the same!  

What is the job role?

This is an exciting time to join Coventry City Council and we are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager. 

We need the right person to join our team to help manage and deliver a range of construction projects within the City.  We are looking for someone who understands the world of construction and is a confident and competent technical specialist in areas including new build, refurbishment and demolition.  The successful person will have responsibility and autonomy to deliver and manage projects ranging from £50k - £15m.

Who are we looking for?

In addition to your construction knowledge, you will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Your ability to work independently in a demanding service environment
  • Demonstrable budget management experience, including forecast and control
  • Discipline and tenacity to deliver results
  • A desire to learn and develop
  • Proactive and courageous leadership
  • Knowledge of industry standard contracts
  • Balance and authority in taking decisions in difficult situations
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on a varied workload
