Community Resilience Lead Officer

About the team we are recruiting to

The Community Resilience Team is a small team with a wide and exciting remit.

Working at the interface of the Public and Voluntary sector our role is to support both City Council Services and the Voluntary and Community sector to create new service models which better support the people of Coventry. 

This involves supporting both sectors around funding, recruiting volunteers and increasing the capacity of the sector.  Examples of our work include the setting up and support to the many food hubs and social supermarkets in the city, creation of community libraries and our work to establish a network of 300 community messengers.

Our Team sits within Public Health supporting the Covid Response.  We also support many services across the Council including property asset transfer and ICT community laptop giveaways.

What is the job role?

A six month fixed term contract/secondment to the post of Community Resilience Lead Officer.

This role will:

  • help lead projects and initiatives which support the voluntary and community sector
  • work with other lead officers and manage a small team
  • support service managers within the Council where they wish to deliver a project with a voluntary and community sector element
  • help to deliver a grant programme to support community outreach and engagement

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a self-starter and someone who can translate ideas into action whilst leading, motivating and managing a small team.

A background and/or understanding of the voluntary sector and a can-do attitude, is a must.

When applying for this role you will be asked to write a personal statement, please include the following information in your statement.  Applications will be shortlisted against these points:

  • Your knowledge of the voluntary & community sector and how this differs and compliments the public and private sectors
  • Your ability to convey complex information to a range of audiences so that it is clearly understood.
  • Your experience of developing relationships across communities.
