What is the job role?
A rare opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of a Commissioning Manager in Adult Social Care. We want to ensure that all adults with care and support needs, and carers, in Coventry can live as independently, safely, and well as possible and have real choice and control over the care they receive.
You will lead efforts to ensure sustainable and high-quality social care markets to support this.
In this role;
- Use insight and understanding from people with lived experience to shape future commissioning priorities.
- Champion inclusive commissioning by ensuring services reflect the needs of Coventry’s diverse communities.
- Proactively engage with individuals from all backgrounds to inform and influence commissioning decisions.
- You will play an important role in how we quality assure services and ensure equity in service provision and people management
- You will lead on planning, engagement, developing and commissioning services that meet the required outcomes for people, their relatives and unpaid carers
- You will play a key role in seeking people's views on their care and their experience through Adult Social Care
- You will act as a representative for Adult Social Care at key events and forums
- You will work across organisations, with wider partners and key stakeholders, to ensure a good representation of citizens and organisations
- You will play a key role in working with the voluntary sector to develop services for people in the community
- You will have a proven track record of leading and managing people
Although the role will have a focus on home support and other community services, the postholder would be expected to work across the whole portfolio of adult commissioning.

The successful candidate will have:
- Enthusiasm and passion to see improvements
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills and ability to summarise complex information clearly and concisely.
- Experience and knowledge of Adult Social Care (this could be professionally or through own experience)
- Experience of working in partnership with health and social care partners to deliver services
- Ability to develop new and initiative services
- Ability to work in collaboration with citizens, carers and key stakeholders
- Sensitivity and empathy to the wide range of needs of Coventry residents
- Experience / understanding of the benefits of co-production and stakeholder involvement
- Confidence in speaking to a wide range of people at different forums and events.
