Working within a multidisciplinary team to design and implement traffic and road safety schemes, including policy development, local safety interventions, vulnerable road user initiatives, school streets, and speed management—helping to create safer, more accessible streets for all.

What is the job role?
Kick‑start Your Career in Civil Engineering with Us!
We’re looking for a self‑motivated, enthusiastic individual who’s eager to learn and become a valued member of our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands‑on experience while supporting engineers and technical officers in the design, planning and delivery of real civil engineering projects across the city.
You’ll get involved in site inspections, surveys and data collection, help monitor construction works to ensure they meet safety and quality standards, and assist with preparing drawings, reports and documentation using tools like CAD and Excel. You’ll work closely with contractors, consultants and internal teams, keeping accurate records and contributing to project delivery from start to finish.

Who are we looking for?

This apprenticeship role is a fixed-term contract for 24 months in line with the length of the apprenticeship training.
