What is the job role?
This is an exciting, interesting and sustainable career opportunity which will allow you to learn on the job, gain qualifications, as well as develop your skill base by being part of a dedicated, forward-thinking, innovative, brave, supportive and integrated transport and highways service. The apprenticeship is for two years, starting at Level 4 Civil Engineering Senior Technician. There is potential to move onto the level 6-degree apprenticeship following successful completion of the level 4, which is a further 3 years.
It will be a condition of any employment offer that you are accepted onto the Level 4 programme by Coventry University.
You will be working across all parts of the Transport and Highways service, including: Highway Maintenance, Flood Risk Management and Drainage, Public Realm (major infrastructure projects) and Traffic Road Safety to provide help and assistance for the development and delivery of the various construction schemes and associated tasks. You will work closely with and be supported by an experienced team of engineers and technicians to assist and help achieve the delivery of the annual multi-million-pound programmes of works in Coventry.

You will undertake the Level 4 Civil Engineering Senior Technician Apprenticeship standard. Further information for this apprenticeship can be found on: https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeships/st0046-v1-3
This apprenticeship role is a fixed-term contract for 24 months in line with the length of the apprenticeship training.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with a keen interest in making Civil Engineering their chosen career path and who wants to help us make a real difference by maintaining and improving the city’s transport infrastructure. This is a public service role and therefore you should also enjoy helping people and interacting with them to make a difference. Being able to fit in and forge professional relationships with the rest of the team is key as well as flexibility and a ‘can do’ attitude.
As a successful candidate you will need a full current UK driving licence or working towards, you will have the ability to use and understand IT systems in an office-based environment, you will have good communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines and work under pressure.
