What is the job role?

If you are passionate about making a difference to children’s lives and want to help prevent their exploitation, we want to hear from you. 

We are looking for a Child Exploitation Coordinator to work creatively with a range of partners ensuring there is an effective response to this developing and dynamic risk  You will have experience of partnership working and be confident to use your own initiative to manage and prioritise your workload. You will need to be skilled at undertaking research and preparing reports that assist in decision making and targeting of services. 

The role

This role sits within Children’s Services, its primary purpose is to  further develop and support the work of the Local Authority and key partner agencies to promote a dynamic and effective multi-agency and community response to child exploitation and extra familial harm; focusing on the safeguarding of children whilst supporting the work of national, regional and local partners to increase public confidence by disrupting exploitation.

You will be joining the specialist multi-disciplinary Risk Management Team where the core function is the strategic management and delivery of Coventry’s Home Office Prevent Duty, LADO, Safeguarding in Education and Child Criminal Exploitation.  

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

You will be educated to degree level and/or have a recognised professional qualification (eg. DipSW, Teaching, Probation) you will also have demonstrable experience of partnership working and child safeguarding. 

You must be confident to work with a degree of independence, professional responsibility and autonomy. You will also be knowledgeable of the varied and changing national, regional and local picture in relation to child exploitation/extra familial harm.
