We are seeking a reliable Catering Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness, ensuring compliance with best practices.
Castle Wood is a vibrant and thriving broad spectrum special school, providing education for 168 primary-aged pupils with a wide range of learning needs, including PMLD, SLD, ASD, SLCN, and complex behavioural challenges. Key Responsibilities:
• Serve hot meals
• Basic food preparation (using microwaves and ovens)
• Taking trolleys to areas within the school
• Clearing up and washing up
• Kitchen cleaning
The hours will be weekdays from 10.30h to 13.30h. The successful candidate will be required to provide flexibility in their hours to cover sickness, training, and other needs as they arise.
Work Pattern
15 hours per week with some flexibility
39 weeks term time only
Who are we looking for?
What we are looking for:
• Some experience in a catering environment
• Basic knowledge of Health and Safety practices
• Ability to carry out lifting and carrying duties
• A Basic Food Safety Level 2 certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• Willingness to undertake relevant training
Personal Qualities:
• A strong commitment to maintaining your own health and safety, as well as the safety of others
• Cooperative attitude, willing to work with the team to comply with health and safety instructions and practices
• Responsible and conscientious approach to handling health and safety equipment and procedures
• Ability to report any concerns or hazards promptly and responsibly
Safeguarding: As part of our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils, safer recruitment processes will be followed. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
