Procurement Services are at the heart of the on-going economic and social development of the city and are/have been involved with supporting plans for Very Light Rail (VLR), schools expansion, UK Battery Industrialisation Centre and more. We are also integral to the improvement of services for Adults and Children's Social Care, Public Health and homelessness strategies.
What is the job role?
We are currently recruiting a Category Manager within Procurement Services on a full-time, permanent basis.
Working to the Deputy Head of Procurement, you will have responsibility for the letting of a portfolio of contracts, developing procurement plans, implementing Contract Management and ensuring that targeted outcomes are compatible with Category Strategies.
In further detail key duties and responsibilities will include:
Leading on a portfolio of contracts within ICT & Digital, developing procurement plans and ensuring that targeted outcomes are compatible with Category strategies
Working closely with Service Heads and Managers contribute to the design development, maintenance and delivery of a commercially focussed Category Strategies for designated groups of services and/or commodities which meet business objectives, including national, local and sub regional opportunities and deliver service and value for money outcomes.
Identifying and delivering innovative category procurement solutions, which provide benefits and result in both savings and process efficiencies across all contracts managed.
Taking commercial lead and operational responsibility for specific aspects of standard procurement projects, in particular the structure of tenders; tender evaluation; negotiation; legal requirements; contract award and finalisation. Proactively mitigate and manage risk throughout.

You should be motivated and enjoy working as part of a flexible and dedicated team. You will have knowledge and experience of the commissioning and tender process, with a demonstrable background in the procurement of ICT & Digital related goods and services.
Ideally, you would be MCIPS qualified but if not, you will be willing to work and study towards achieving this.
