About the team we are recruiting to
The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need.
We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities.
We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people.
Our work-based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in the following subject areas:
- Nursery Workers
- Teaching Assistants
- Leadership/Management; and
- Customer Care.
We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council’s Job Shop.
Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need.

What is the job role?
A casual lecturer level 1 is required to deliver the CMI Level 5 Leadership and Management apprenticeship for Coventry Adult Education Service. Delivery will be via face to face or virtual class room sessions. A new cohort starts in early October 20 and will run throughout 2021. Delivery will be one full day per month per cohort. Topics to be delivered include: managing projects, managing change, managing finance, creating and delivering operational plans etc.
Dependant upon the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate additional work may be available.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
To apply for this role it is essential that you can demonstrate past higher management experience. This will ensure that you have up to date knowledge on the topics to be delivered and enable you to enhance and add context to your delivery with examples of your previous experience.
It is essential that you have previous experience of delivering training as a minimum, it would be desirable for you to hold a recognised teaching qualification and previous experience of delivering apprenticeships/CMI Level 5 Leadership & Management qualifications.
