Business Compliance Enforcement Officer – COVID19

As we move into the next phase of our Covid-19 response, Coventry City Council along with partners have come together to develop a local plan to manage Covid-19. We want to support communities to keep safe and provide local information so that a targeted response can be mobilised as needed to keep Coventry safe.

Nationally, we are all following Government guidance to stay safe and manage Covid-19. As we begin to return to workplaces, shops and spending time with our families and friends it is important that we all continue to follow the guidance to protect ourselves and the people around us. 

We have an exciting opportunity where you can be part of a team working in response to Covid-19.

What is the job role?

We are looking for individuals, who are immediately available, to work in front-line critical service in response to Covid-19.

We are looking for confident, customer focused, computer literate individuals to join our team as Business Compliance Enforcement Officers.

In this role you will be providing assistance to the Senior Enforcement Officers by independently dealing with enquires, giving advice, investigating complaints and trading activities. You will be updating and compiling computer records as well as liaising with consumers and stakeholders.

This role will require some home working but also visiting customer sites, therefore you will be required to travel for work duties. You may also be required to work some out of office hours in response to Covid-19.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

If you have previous experience in hospitality, events or retail – then we want to hear from you!

We are looking for people who are experienced in working in a customer facing role as we feel you have the transferable skills we need!

You will need:

  • Confidence to engage with businesses, partners and the public
  • Good listening skills
  • Ability to communicate information to others clearly and sensitively
  • Able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • A flexible approach to work patterns
  • The ability to work as part of a team and on your own
  • IT literate with basic software packages

This post is for 37 hours per week up until 31st March 2021.

  • Your understanding of health and safety risk assessment and relevant regulation framework
