Uniquely, Coventry is the home to two designated sports grounds which means we get involved in ensuring the safety of tens of thousands of sports fans and concert goers.

What is the job role?

As our Building Control Team Leader, you will work closely with the Building Control Manager to oversee the delivery of the Building Control service, lead innovation and ensure the quality and performance of the team. You will have the opportunity to shine and make a significant contribution to Coventry’s growth and success.

You will represent the service at a senior management level, provide expert advice and help shape the future and strategic direction of the team whilst also getting involved in complex and high-profile projects.

We're seeking a forward-thinking leader who values diversity as a core strength, creating an environment where every voice is heard and respected.

You will need to have your competence validated by the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) through Building Safety Competence Foundation (BSCF), the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) or Total Training and be qualified to work on any Class 2 building and be working towards Class 3.

You must have substantial experience working in Building Control, including dealing with complex and high-risk projects. Experience in managing, supervising, and mentoring staff is desirable.

You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure and prioritise your workload. You will also need to have a valid driving licence as you will be required to travel to various sites across the city.

•           Management and leadership skills to manage, motivate and develop a team of  professional officers in order to achieve business goals.

  • Flexibility. Although this post is being advertised as a full-time role, we are a flexible employer and will consider applications from candidates who would prefer to work part-time or more flexibly.
  • A market supplement of £5, 000 per year.
