About our School

We are an all age Special School for pupils with a wide range of need including physical disabilities, medical conditions and learning needs. With 250 pupils on role, we are an extremely busy school, enabling our pupils opportunity to excel in facilities which include a student led café; climbing wall; zip wire; sensory suite and Apiary, as well as a whole host of other fabulous learning areas. Our curriculum is challenging and creative, allowing our amazing pupils to flourish.

What is the job role?

About the Role

Hours to be confirmed between 25-35 per week (start and finish time to be agreed). Term time plus 3 Teacher Training Days.

We are excited to be recruiting for an Assistant Swimming Coach to join our dedicated team of over 150 employees here at Sherbourne Fields – moreover to support our fully qualified Swimming Instructor in daily lessons to provide stimulating, challenging, meaningful and fun lessons to pupils of all ages and abilities as part of our rich and varied curriculum.

We believe that physical activity is a crucial part of our pupil’s school experience and contributes to their overall wellbeing. The successful candidate will ideally have some swimming coaching/teaching knowledge to assist the Lead Instructor with the tracking of  individual pupil progress and to support the planning of differentiated lessons. This will incorporate utilising the pool as a sensory or a therapeutic environment. Although the majority of time will be spent in the swimming pool, you may on occasion be required to support in the classroom.

As the Assistant Coach you will assist with Lead Instructor with the overall responsibility for the entire pool area. This includes the daily cleaning and maintenance of the pool and surrounding areas including the changing rooms; poolside area and specialist pool equipment.

Our swimming pool incorporates a hydro-pool facility with state-of-the-art sensory lighting and ceiling tracking hoist to ensure access for all of our pupils, so there has never been a better time to come on board!

Who are we looking for?

About You

You will be a strong swimmer with some previous experience of working as either a Lifeguard or  Swimming Coach. You will be willing to undertake training to assist in your own personal development as Assistant Coach.

A flexible and organised individual you will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of basic health and safety awareness relating to poolside and be committed to supporting toe Lead Instructor to ensure pool protocols are followed at all times.
