What is the job role?

We have secured permanent funding for a newly commissioned Approved Mental Health Professional  

On-call fees and additional rates of pay for out-of-hours working

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and highly motivated Approved Mental Health Professional to join our rapidly developing Mental Health Services in Coventry

This is a new but permanent post developed from a joint initiative between Mental Health Services and the Coventry City Council’s Homeless Housing Team and is funded by The Rough Sleeper Drug and Alcohol Grant. The post will be based within the AMHP Team working within the Mental Health Access Hub and Home Treatment at the Caludon Centre. The post holder will contribute to the 24/7 AMHP rota and will be responding to requests for assessments under the Mental Health Act (1983).

This post will connect-up mental health, substance misuse and homelessness services and will help establish a more joined-up and dedicated service for citizens of Coventry within these specific service areas.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

 

Who are we looking for?

The successful applicant will be part of a successful programme of work that has already gone some way to addressing the needs of individuals who are rough sleeping, homeless and/or using harmful substances and are also experiencing challenges with respect to their mental health.

The successful applicant will also be an Approved Mental Health Professional who has considerable experience and skill in working within mental health, but who has additional skill and experience of working within housing, homelessness and substance misuse services. As well as the Mental Health Act (1983) they will also have knowledge and skill around the application of additional relevant legislation, including the Care Act (2014), Mental Capacity Act (2005) and the Equality Act (2010).

You will join an experienced and well-established AMHP team, which has excellent terms and conditions. You will have an opportunity to be part of creating and shaping the service design and delivery of this new model within this specific service area. You will work with colleagues from key stake holder organisations, across a range of agencies to mobilise solutions for this particular service user group. These agencies will include Coventry City Council Departments in accordance with ONE Coventry values and also The Social Interventions Collective, Change Live Grow and the NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust.
