About the team we are recruiting to
Coventry City Council’s Organisational Development (OD) Service sits within Human Resources (HR) and focuses on delivering organisational transformation and cultural change through a range of organisational interventions. Alongside our HR colleagues we work to ensure that the development and redesign of our people management policies, practices and strategies are in line with the changing organisational environment and that they enable the delivery of outcomes associated with transformation and change.
The team get the chance to shape the culture and the future of the Council which includes being heavily involved in our One Coventry approach and striving to ensure that all employees are supported throughout the employee lifecycle. What is the job role?
The Organisational Development team are looking to recruit an Apprenticeship and Early Careers Advisor to support the delivery of the Council’s Apprenticeship Strategy which includes:
- Driving the development of colleagues, utilising the Apprenticeship Levy.
- Increasing the number of apprenticeship opportunities and ‘Grow Our Own’ workforce.
- Embedding apprenticeships across the organisation and develop career progression pathways.
- Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, widening participation in the Council’s apprenticeship programme.
- Improving the quality of apprenticeships, promoting a culture of where the customer is at the heart of everything it does.
Key areas of work will include: supporting service areas to identify potential early careers opportunities and grow the number of apprenticeships across the Council, delivering development sessions as part of the apprenticeship training programme and evaluating the effectiveness of all programmes.

We are transforming how we do things at Coventry City Council and that means transforming HR and OD. To help us in this journey, we are looking to appoint an Apprenticeship and Early Careers Advisor to the join the Organisation Development Team.
The role will involve supporting the development of all early careers schemes including apprenticeships, work experience and graduates to develop the offer.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have experience of working within a HR/OD environment
- Have excellent organisational skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate
- Knowledge and understanding of apprenticeships, internships or graduate programmes and work experience placements
Applications will be considered from candidates with relevant knowledge preferably with an L& D/OD background who will we support to gain a recognised level 5 CIPD qualification if required.
