The Insight Team's role is to question, influence and provide understanding to make life better in Coventry.
The Insight Team collects, analyses, interprets and publishes a wide range of insights about the city, and engages with residents, communities and partners to champion a culture of evidence-based decision-making across Coventry.
Activities undertaken by the Insight team include:
- Business intelligence
- Customer and location intelligence
- Engagement and consultation support
- Evaluative research
- Performance management
- Partnership working
- Providing advice and guidance on equalities and diversity issues and ensuring the Council discharges its Public Sector Equality Duty

What is the job role?
Coventry City Council is recruiting to two Analyst roles. Both of these roles are full time posts on permanent contracts.
Analyst – Insight (Intelligence)
We are seeking an Analyst to join the Insight (Intelligence) team. Our role is to question, influence and provide understanding to make life better in Coventry. Our current areas of focus include the city's growth and prosperity, population health management, and digital transformation.
Your role will be to:
Support the Insight team in providing quantitative and qualitative analysis, consultation and support to deliver key services and developments – particularly around the health and wellbeing agenda, public health intelligence; citywide intelligence hub and headline statistics.
Interpret and present a range of complex information in creative, interesting, stimulating, and engaging ways; including maintaining our online and social media presence.
Summarise data, evidence, and research in succinct, clear, and timely ways to support decision-making, strategy development and service redesign using Power BI and using R, SQL, DAX and Power Query.
Analyse complex trends in population health, service provision and demographic change, involving a range of interdependent factors to predict future trends, service needs and opportunities for local communities.
Analyst – Insight (Social Care)
We are looking for an Analyst to join the Insight (Social Care) team your focus being on Adult social care working within a very busy, innovative, forward thinking team. We are looking to work together with Adult Services to bring about positive change in the lives of people in the city.
Your role will be to:
Deliver insight, analysis and intelligence to drive change, ensuring that this is supported by robust quantitative and/or qualitative data.
Build and develop various dashboards using PowerBI and reports utilising SSRS and SQL, extracting data from data-warehouses.
Utilise techniques in statistical analysis and modelling and /or qualitative research methodologies
Working together with Adult Services to understand trends, service needs and opportunities
Develop timely, robust and relevant understanding of key issues, providing interpretation of the strength of existing evidence
The Insight Team champions a culture of better decisions through evidence and engagement across the city and the Council. We utilise our unique position of having oversight of the interdependencies and impact of multiple changes to influence important decisions for the city and its citizens.
Who are we looking for?
If you are passionate about understanding people and communities, and have a flair for interpreting data, these roles could be for you!
You will need excellent ICT and data skills, and numeracy and literacy.
You’ll have excellent analytical and numeracy skills and the ability to write clearly and communicate complex data to different audiences using a variety of techniques.
You’ll also be an excellent communicator, able to explain and present complex data to a wide range of audiences, working together with the service area and partner organisations as well as having excellent team working skills.
You will have the ability to manage various projects at the same time, with high levels of expectation to deliver to tight timescales.
We increasingly use software packages like Power BI to share our work; and would be particularly interested in hearing from people with experience of using data science techniques.
Experience of working with Adult Social Care services would be beneficial for candidates applying for the Analyst – Insight (Social Care) role.
