Analyst (Geographical Information Systems)

The Insight Team's role is to question, influence and provide understanding to make life better in Coventry.
 
The Insight Team collects, analyses, interprets and publishes a wide range of insights about the city, and engages with residents, communities and partners to champion a culture of evidence-based decision-making across Coventry.
 
Activities undertaken by the Insight team include:

  • Business intelligence
  • Customer and location intelligence
  • Engagement and consultation support
  • Evaluative research
  • Performance management
  • Partnership working
  • Providing advice and guidance on equalities and diversity issues and ensuring the Council discharges its Public Sector Equality Duty

The team is responsible for managing the Public Sector Geospatial Agreement, Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG), core Ordnance Survey datasets and web mapping applications as well as providing GIS analytical support and expert advice to colleagues throughout the organisation and beyond.

What is the job role?

You will collect, analyse, administer, interpret and present geographical information systems (GIS) and the local land and property gazetteer (LLPG) data, research and analyses to support monitoring and management efforts as part of the city’s Covid-19 Test and Trace programme and related work as the city moves to reset and recovery.

You will also support the maintenance of the Local Land and Property Gazetteer and corporate GIS function.

Who are we looking for?

The post would suit an analyst with GIS skills of analysing, interpreting and presenting information with a good working knowledge of the LLPG.  Proficient IT skills are essential particularly in the use of Excel and MapInfo Professional as is the ability to communicate confidently with colleagues at all levels.

An interest in public health matters and epidemiological approaches will be an advantage.
