Development Management is a service area within Coventry City Council which supports the growth of the city and manages development from inception to delivery.
As a high performing planning department, we deal with a wide range of applications. We are a dynamic and forward-thinking team with a can-do approach and are always striving to improve our service. We recognise the importance of developing a strong, robust and resilient team through learning and development.
The service area sits within a larger team alongside Planning Policy and Environment which encompasses a number of individual but related specialisms all focused on delivering a city for those wishing to live and work here. Those specialisms include Planning, Ecology, Trees and Landscape, Urban Design, Conservation, Archaeology and Environmental Protection.
What is the job role?
We are looking for an Administrator to come join our team as a Senior Planning Technical Support Officer. You will be delivering high quality customer service in a way that contributes to the achievement of the City Council’s vision and objectives for a growing and sustainable city. This is a 2 year fixed term contract.
As a high performing Planning Team we are currently transforming the way we provide our service, looking to improve our processes and ensure the delivery of a value for money service.
The day to day requirements in your role will be providing administrative support to the area planning team. You will deal with enquiries, through varying mediums, ensuring that where possible they are resolved at first contact, seeking to resolve queries and using judgement as to when to pass on more complex issues. You will be undertaking data input and ensuring applications on the planning database are kept up to date.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a strong administrator with excellent customer service skills, good communication and interpersonal skills - both written and verbal, to deal with members of the public and to establish rapport with colleagues and team members. You will have a keen eye for detail and able to work accurately in a busy environment, using your own initiative.

a) your administrative experience to date.
b) your experience in providing excellent customer service.
c) your knowledge and experience of computer packages/IT systems.
