1-1 Teaching Assistant - Sherbourne Fields School
What is the job role?
1-1 Teaching Assistant required for September 2020.
35 hours per week term time only
Sherbourne Fields is an outstanding all age special school for pupils with a broad spectrum of need including physical disabilities, medical conditions and learning needs. The school’s population is wide ranging and diverse, with pupils from a rich mix of social and cultural backgrounds.
From September, we require a 1:1 support for a very special Year 6 pupil with a severe visual impairment and needs. Funding has been agreed with the local authority until the student leaves school: therefore, the successful candidate’s employment contract will run for this period.
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working with students within a similar setting. However, we welcome candidates with a strong desire to work in the area of SEND who are willing to undertake training. Candidates with a level of skill and ability in music are encouraged to apply.
As a 1-1 support, you will be responsible for ensuring that this delightful pupil accesses his individualised curriculum whilst ensuring his physiotherapy, speech and language programme and medical regime are delivered and adhered to.
The successful candidate will also have a good general education (A – C GCSE or equivalent) English and Maths (ICT desirable), outstanding communication skills and be able to demonstrate patience, tact, flexibility and compassion.
Sherbourne Fields is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks will be carried out on the successful candidate for this post.
Application packs are available from the school website - www.sherbournefields.co.uk and returnable to the school.
