What is the job role?

In Coventry, we’re on a journey to do better for Coventry’s children, and we’re committed to doing things differently. We’re clear on where we’re going, where we’ve come from and how every single Social Worker can put Children first.

In order to do this as effectively and passionately as we can we’ve created an academy to take newly qualified social workers through their first few years in practice in a supportive and educational environment to allow them to grow and develop in a way that will really ensure that our Children receive good outcomes.

Due to growth of our Social Work Academy we’re looking for a Team Manager to join us on a permanent basis, as part of that journey to guide, mentor and develop a cohort of Newly Qualified Social Workers as they take their first steps into the practice and develop their confidence, skills and knowledge as Social Work Professionals.

This role would be great for an experienced individual who is focused on nurturing and developing Newly Qualified Social Worker’s or someone who has gained experience recently through such a programme and looking to develop their leadership and management experience.

Working within a highly regarded, efficient and dedicated children’s services you will be given the opportunity to contribute to improving outcomes for children, young people and their families. Ideally, you would have experience of signs of safety methodologies and/or restorative practice as a practice lead as this is the practice framework we use in our work with children and families.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

You believe in providing a high-quality service that ensures that the child is at the heart of everything we do.

You will need to have a recognised professional Social Work qualification (MA/BA/BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or CQSW) and Social Work England registration with experience in the management of dealing with child protection enquiries, completing duty assessments and managing timescales.
