Speech and Language Therapist - Sherbourne Fields School

What is the job role?

Sherbourne Fields is an ‘Outstanding’ all aged Special School catering for pupils with a broad spectrum of special educational needs. We have been recognised, and pride ourselves on our innovative and creative approaches throughout our school, and we want you to join us! 

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, talented and committed professional to join our dedicated therapy team in our ‘Outstanding’ Special School. 

As part of the school’s therapy team this role will be to provide a high quality Speech and Language Therapy Service to a specialist caseload of children and young people with a broad range of need. These include highly complex needs, profound physical needs, sensory processing difficulties and learning needs. Our therapist will use clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to support assessments using a child centred approach.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist Speech and Language Therapy to include:

• Assessments and interventions
• Reporting as part of the EHC process
• Provision of therapy (both group and/or individual)
• Planning therapy programmes
• Parental support and advice
• Staff training

The Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) appointed will be a registered member of the Health Professional Council and preferably a specialist in paediatrics. We are looking for a candidate who can embrace a busy and dynamic working environment, have compassion and a passion for the profession and be flexible and solution focused in their approach.

Work Pattern

35 hours per week, term time only plus teacher training days

The role advertised is subject to receiving two satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS and medical clearance check. The official closing date for the vacancy is Monday 7th June 2021 and interviews will be held shortly after this date.
