About the team we are recruiting to

Adult Social Care is part of the People Directorate within Coventry City Council.  We have a simple vision and strategy that defines what we are trying to achieve, our purpose and our approach which underpin the principles of Adult Social Care, and we continue to work in support of this.

In a simple sense all our work, at whatever level should continue to support the strategy of: ‘Providing support, in the least intrusive manner possible, based on the assets, resources and abilities that are available to people’.

Adult Social Care encompasses a wide range of vital services covering;

• Commissioning Team – we commission and work with a number of providers, to ensure that people with care needs have access to a range of good quality support to enable them to live independent and fulfilling lives
• Social Work Services - we work with individuals who have care and support needs, and with their carers be they older or younger adults
• Occupational Therapy and Equipment Services - we aim to enhance people’s ability to live safely and independently in their home
• Internally Provided Services – we provide direct support to people enabling those in most need to live independent and fulfilled lives
• Business Systems and Continuous Improvement - we provide a range of services including Financial Assessments, provider payment processing and Business Systems administration. The Business Systems team provide support to Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and Education Services.

What is the job role?

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Housing with Care Team.  To assist and support the management in the overall administration of a Housing with Care scheme, supervising and working with a group of staff deploying resources that meet the needs of tenants through person centred service delivery. 

We are looking for individuals who really care about people in their Community and want to enable and empower people to live independently and to assist tenants in maintaining their independence and achieving their outcomes.  The Service delivers Care and Support to tenants in 6 of our Housing with Care Schemes which are located across the City.

You will be accountable for carrying out all duties and responsibilities with due regard to the City Council's Equal Opportunities. Providing a quality service by promoting the physical (including the administration of medication), emotional, social and intellectual well-being of each service user.

Ensuring that Health and Safety requirements are adhered to with due regard to service users, staff and all persons accessing our service. Safeguarding vulnerable adults. Making sure the service provided meets the needs and outcomes of each service user. Supporting the staff team to meet and excel the expected behaviour guidelines.

Please note the salary advertised will be pro-rata to hours worked.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

A willingness to be flexible is essential.  You will be required to work various shifts starting from 7.00am mornings, evenings up until 10pm & weekends and bank holidays on a rota shift basis of 29 hours per week .

Previous experience of working in Health or Social Care Setting is essential.

The ability to achieve the standards of the Care Certificate within 12 weeks of employment with the aim to achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
