Senior IT Technician

The Board of Directors at the Romero Catholic Academy are sourcing a Senior IT Technician to support the Catholic Ethos of our organisation. Reporting directly to the Head of IT, you will conduct a broad role fulfilling a variety of requirements. Your day-to-day will consist of:

  • Supporting the Head of IT in the development of a high-quality IT support service
  • Maintenance of IT and Telephony Systems across the organisation
  • Supervise the day-to-day running of the help desk, including allocating workloads to junior members of the IT team
  • Diagnose and resolve problems and incidents, including more complex requests, across a range of software applications, devices and operating systems
  • Act as the initial escalation point for incidents from junior members of the IT team
  • Lead on the delivery of routine maintenance across the organisation
  • Diagnose and repair hardware faults and maintain physical systems in a safe and appropriate manner
  • Track alerts from fault reporting systems
  • Work with the Head of IT to identify fault patterns and implement appropriate resolutions
  • Assist staff with the adoption of positive approaches to cyber-security through measures such as good password hygiene, appropriate use of secure systems, and use of multi-factor authentication
  • Deploy and monitor security software such as antivirus and encryption products
  • Ensure that correct procedures are followed for granting and maintaining access to systems and IT resources
  • Accurately record, update and document requests using the IT service desk
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation of systems, processes and common tasks
  • Work with the Head of IT to create and deliver communication plans for the development and adoption of new technologies across the organisation
  • Work with the Head of IT to plan and implement a central IT asset database
  • Carry out periodic audits of assets to ensure that the system is up to date and being used correctly
  • With support from the Head of IT, take the lead on specific smaller IT projects or aspects of larger projects
  • Assist the Head of IT with larger IT projects across the trust

The successful Senior IT Technician will be an excellent communicator with the ability to develop working relationships with staff at all levels, resulting in outstanding customer service. You will have experience in a variety of technologies ideally inclusive of Windows server & client O/S, Active Directory & Group Policy, Office 365, G Suite, iOS, iPad Management and Chromebooks.

Grade:                Grade 5 (£21,589 - £26,999 per annum)
Contract Type:   Permanent
Start Date:          ASAP
Hours:                 37 hours per week, Monday – Thursday 08:30am – 4:30pm and Fridays 08:30am – 4:00pm with 30 minutes for lunch break
