The Education and Skills directorate strives to work in partnership to enable children, young people and adults to access high quality and inclusive education and learning, so that they develop resilience, make positive life choices and contribute to a vibrant Coventry City.​

The directorate is made up of five service areas; Education Improvement & Standards, Education Entitlement, Special Education Needs and Disabilities & Specialist Services, Employment & Skills and Libraries & Migration.

What is the job role?

Education and Skills is seeking to appoint a Project Support Officer to assist in delivering the Department for Education’s Holiday Activities and Food Programme.

The post is full-time (37 hours per week) and is offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2022.

Current Coventry City Council employees may wish to consider this role as a secondment opportunity (with prior agreement from their line manager).

The successful candidate will:

  1. Work as part of a team to deliver the Holiday Activities and Food Programme, providing holiday clubs, including healthy food and enriching activities to disadvantaged children across Coventry.
  2. Promote and exemplify expertise in programme and project management, maintaining a focus on planned outcomes and benefits, placing the intended beneficiaries at the heart of your work.
  3. Work flexibly to support delivery of Programmes and Projects across Education and Skills
  4. Demonstrate leadership in the delivery of assigned project activities within allocated workstreams.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a candidate who can hit the ground running liaising with support teams, partners and customers to support the establishment of a diverse programme of Holiday activities for children eligible for free school meals from Summer 2021.

The role would suit an individual with a broad skill set in research, communication, data analysis and administration, quick to learn and able to work flexibly across various projects and to various stakeholders.  Experience working in a project environment is not essential.

This role presents an excellent opportunity to build experience in project management, broaden internal networks and work with partners nationally in establishing a new service to enhance the quality of school holiday provision available to some of Coventry’s most vulnerable children.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
