About the team we are recruiting to

There's a huge buzz about the city- Coventry ranks as the 8th best city to live, work and do business in the UK, and is the UK City of Culture 2021 ! We believe this will help put Coventry on the map for all the right reasons. You can feel the sense of local pride throughout the city as we build towards this momentous year. It also offers a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to those joining us to play their part in it.

Coventry City Council is the primary supporter of The Coventry City of Culture Trust, committing £5m in funding as well as additional resource as part of its “City Readiness” programme. This will see the Council invest in improvements to the public realm as well as supporting cultural and heritage organisations with their capital improvements in advance of 2021. This funding will help us to deliver a programme that has a positive impact for Coventry – and the wider region – not just in 2021 but well into the future creating a legacy for the city.

City of Culture Trust is co-created with national and local partners, and grassroots organisations across the city, the programme will include major international artistic events, world premieres and commissions across theatre, music, dance, literature, comedy and visual art.

Committed to working in partnership with at least 120 community-led or charitable organisations in the city, and local, regional and national arts organisations, to create and deliver a wide-ranging programme, which will play a key role in supporting the culture sector and use the spotlight of the celebration to showcase the creativity of the city and region to audiences across the UK.

The 365-day Coventry 2021 cultural programme will reflect Coventry as a diverse, modern city, demonstrating that culture is a force that changes lives, moving Coventry and the region forward.  Coventry is known internationally as a city of welcome, a city of activists and pioneers, a city of peace and reconciliation, a city of innovation and invention, and now a City of Culture.

Coventry has been preparing for its role as UK City of Culture since our name was announced in 2017, and the excitement has been building as the months have passed. The year as UK City of Culture will put Coventry in the national and international spotlight. It is a fantastic opportunity, but we only have one chance to hold this wonderful title and it is vitally important that we are completely prepared when our time comes.

What is the job role?

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to support the delivery of Capital Infrastructure to ensure that the city has the venues to showcase the City of Culture programme for 2021 and most importantly leave a cultural legacy for the City.
