About the team we are recruiting to

Sitting within the Facilities Management department, Coventry City Council's Energy Management Team is fast becoming one of the critical teams within the Council providing essential support services across all service sectors as the City embarks on a Green Recovery and builds towards a Net Zero future. The team are responsible for advising on and managing utility related matters, supporting the delivery of wide-ranging city improvement projects and developing and delivering a growing programme of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.

What is the job role?

We are looking for an experienced Low Carbon Officer to undertake day-to-day energy management activities for the Council’s corporate estate as the city undergoes significant change. This is a 2 year fixed term contract.

This role is for someone who understands all areas related to energy management and has experience of planning, delivering and reporting on carbon reduction programmes on a varied portfolio of building types. The successful person will have responsibility for the core carbon management activities of the Council including:

  • Managing Property Decarbonisation Plans
  • Energy Project Delivery
  • Energy Compliance & Reporting
  • Internal Stakeholder Engagement

In addition, the role holder will support the growth of our service offering to external customers through our Energy Management SLA and will also support the wider Energy Management team as required.

In addition to your general carbon management experience, you will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Your ability to work independently in a frequently changing environment
  • A clear understanding and experience of carbon emission measurement and reporting
  • Demonstrable experience of planning, delivering and monitoring retrofit energy efficiency projects
  • Knowledge of public sector energy-related compliance and reporting requirements
