Actual Salary: £16,748 - £17,773.69 pro rata per annum
Full time equivalent salary: £18,933 - £20,092 (Grade 3)

About the role
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Learning Support Assistant with a specific needs focus to assist in the support and inclusion of children with special educational needs and disabilities or other barriers to learning, under the leadership of the Senior Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion), SENDCo and Assistant SENDCo.
The postholder will work with students with a range of difficulties but will have a focus group based around a specific need (e.g. EAL), or a need aligned with the SEND Code of Practice (2015): Cognition and Learning (e.g. MLD), Communication and Interaction (e.g. ASD), Physical and Sensory (e.g. visual impairment) or Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (e.g. anxiety).
The role will support the SENDCo / Assistant SENDCo through providing support to learners with special educational needs and disabilities including: mentoring, identifying barriers to learning, intervention plans, creating resources and liaising with parents, key staff and teachers.
We are looking for someone who:
- Knowledge of inclusion / SEND including Cognition and Learning (e.g. MLD), Communication and Interaction (e.g. ASD), Physical and Sensory (e.g. visual impairment) or Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (e.g. anxiety)
- A good understanding of the needs and characteristics of students across the age range 11-19
- Recent experience of working with young people either in a school setting, as a parent, or involvement in voluntary work such as a youth group, cubs, brownie or similar organisation
- Experience of using a range of computer packages including Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a challenging environment and work under pressure and handle situations with patience and sensitivity
- Excellent communication skills
