Adult Social Care is part of the People Directorate within Coventry City Council.  We have a simple vision and strategy that defines what we are trying to achieve, our purpose and our approach which underpin the principles of Adult Social Care, and we continue to work in support of this.

In a simple sense all our work, at whatever level should continue to support the strategy of: ‘Providing support, in the least intrusive manner possible, based on the assets, resources and abilities that are available to people’.

Adult Social Care encompasses a wide range of vital services covering;

• Social Work Services - we work with individuals who have care and support needs, and with their carers be they older or younger adults
• Occupational Therapy and Equipment Services - we aim to enhance people’s ability to live safely and independently in their home
• Internally Provided Services – we provide direct support to people enabling those in most need to live independent and fulfilled lives
• Business Systems and Continuous Improvement - we provide a range of services including Financial Assessments, provider payment processing and Business Systems administration. The Business Systems team provide support to Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and Education Services.

What is the job role?

We have an opportunity for a Store/Driver Technician to join our team! We are a small, dynamic and friendly team who provide specialist equipment within and around the Coventry area to support and enable service users to maintain their independent within their homes.

We work collaboratively with health professionals within the multi-disciplinary team from both the community and acute settings.  We support hospital discharges, prevention of hospital admissions, enable service users to remain independent within their own home and support equipment to specialist placements within the City.

Working Monday to Friday you will be involved in all aspects of equipment storage, decontamination, recycling and maintenance. Along with this you will be involved in the collection, delivery and fitting of specialist equipment that help Coventry residents live independently. You’ll get real satisfaction from knowing that you are part of a unique service doing a role that makes a difference to people’s lives and offers so much more than other warehouse/driving jobs.

Day to day you will be delivering, fitting and collecting specialist equipment between our warehouse to customers’ homes. At other times you will be decontaminating, refurbishing equipment. Maintaining stock and undertaking portable appliance testing (commonly known as PAT testing). Don’t worry – if you don’t have any experience in PAT testing or fitting specialist equipment as full training will be given so you can work safely and effectively

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

You will need to hold a full driving licence without any driving convictions (other than parking offences or no more than three points for speeding in private time in a private vehicle). You will also need to have practical driving skills and road safety awareness. You will need to have the ability to work alone, have a reasonable level of fitness and the ability to complete basic record sheets and paperwork.
