Child Exploitation Team Manager

The service reflects and responds to the changing needs of children and their families.  It works to enable a reflective and flexible approach, with a strong Early Help offer and a real focus on Relationship Based Practice and Signs of Safety, which focuses on intervention and keeping families together.

The Horizon Team works with young people who are considered at risk of Child Exploitation, this includes Criminal Exploitation and those at risk of Sexual Exploitation.

The Horizon Team pride themselves on Multi-Agency working and offer a number of evidence based interventions to support children at risk of exploitation.  Caseloads are low within the team to enable intensive interventions to be provided.  The Horizon Team support within the Child In Need or Child Protection frameworks.  Practitioners in the team have access to high support case supervision including group supervision to ensure you will be fully supported in working with this cohort of children and young people.

What is the job role?

This is a unique opportunity to join us in Coventry as a Team Manager within the Child Exploitation team and to be instrumental in leading a motivated team, implementing quality assurance systems and identifying opportunities for improvement. Being creative will assist you to deliver the best possible services and outcomes for our young people and their families.

We want a dynamic leader to drive forward the positive changes that have been made and further strengthen the service.

We are a vibrant, diverse and highly efficient multi-agency team who work with young people that have been or at risk of being exploited.  With low caseloads, our social workers, youth workers and children and families workers have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with young people to support them in making positive life choices, increased awareness in terms of healthy relationships, self-respect, wellbeing, dealing with other and thinking about people’s feelings. They work closely with Police, Youth Offending Team, Health Practitioners and education to initiate attitudinal change, behaviour change, that there will be a reduction in offending and reoffending behaviour linked to a reduction in Police intelligence, reduced remand figures, higher engagement with Youth offending orders, young people no longer associating with gangs, reduction in missing episodes, engagement in education/employment and improved relationships within home environments. 

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

You will be a qualified social worker who is registered with Social Work England and have considerable experience of working with children and their families in a statutory social care environment. With fantastic leadership skills, you will motivate and support our social workers. Creating an environment for social work practice to flourish.
