About the team we are recruiting to

The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council.  We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need. 

We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities.  

We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness and family learning.  In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people.

Our work-based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in the following subject areas: 

  • Nursery Workers
  • Teaching Assistants
  • Leadership/Management; and 
  • Customer Care. 

We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council’s Job Shop. 

Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need.

What is the job role?

The Work Based Learning team are looking for an experienced tutor to join the team on a casual basis to deliver the CCTV and Door Supervisor courses that run a couple of times a term.  Dates are available for autumn, spring and summer terms. The role might suit someone who wants to work part time, someone who has their own security business or someone who delivers a range of security training across the country.  

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

A qualified tutor who has the necessary qualifications and experience to deliver CCTV and Door Supervisor qualifications.

It is essential that you have all of the following skills/experience to apply:

• Previous experience of working and delivering the CCTV qualification

• Previous experience of working and delivering the SIA accredited Level 2 Door Supervisor qualification

• A teaching qualification 

• Maths and English qualifications at level 2

• A relevant CCTV qualification

• A level 3 Award for Deliverers of Physical Intervention Training in the Private Security Industry

• Level 3 Delivery of Conflict Management Training (NQF/QCF/RQF)

• A current Physical Intervention Skills Licence

It is desirable for you to have:

• An assessor’s qualification
