About the team we are recruiting to

The Employment & Skills Service is part of Coventry City Council.  We work with a range of delivery partners to provide a wide portfolio of top quality support to Coventry residents of all ages who are looking for work.  We work with partners across the city and our Employer Hub actively works with local employers to generate opportunities for local people. 

Our friendly and welcoming Job Shop is situated in Coventry City Centre. We are here to support all Coventry residents to search for employment, training, apprenticeships and work placements.  People can explore a wide range of local vacancies that are updated daily and access training opportunities.  

We also provide ground-breaking specialist support for local residents who face multiple and sometimes complex barriers that make it hard for them to find a job.  The Job Shop and our exciting range of specialist employment support programmes are among the very best support available in the UK 

What is the job role?

We are looking for a Business Development Officer to join the Thrive At Work team.

This is a fixed-term contract until December 2023.

The job will involve working with a variety of organisations across Coventry & Warwickshire who are working towards achieving the Thrive at work award, an award that recognises what the organisation is doing around health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Organising and facilitating monthly workshops, visiting organisations to offer support, assessing evidence uploaded to a web-based portal, creating newsletters, keeping social media and web pages up to date, setting up surveys, undertaking on-site assessments and attending networking events to encourage other businesses to sign up.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a highly organised individual who can juggle a variety of different tasks at any one time, ensuring all completed to set auditable standards. You must be comfortable in running events, public speaking,  face to face networking and communicating with staff at all levels.

As a successful candidate you must have previous HR experience in order to read and understand company policies and procedures and to be able to make suggestions for improvements, ideally, CIPD qualified.

You will need to be computer literate as the role involves a high volume of email and word use daily. It is essential that you are a car owner and have a full UK driving licence as this job will require you to travel throughout Coventry & Warwickshire.
