The Employment & Skills Service is part of Coventry City Council.  We work with a range of delivery partners to provide a wide portfolio of top quality support to Coventry residents of all ages who are looking for work.  We work with partners across the city and our Employer Hub actively works with local employers to generate opportunities for local people. 

Our friendly and welcoming Job Shop is situated in Coventry City Centre. We are here to support all Coventry residents to search for employment, training, apprenticeships and work placements.  People can explore a wide range of local vacancies that are updated daily and access training opportunities.  

We also provide ground-breaking specialist support for local residents who face multiple and sometimes complex barriers that make it hard for them to find a job.  The Job Shop and our exciting range of specialist employment support programmes are among the very best support available in the UK 

What is the job role?

Coventry City Council Job Shop are now recruiting for an Apprentice Project Officer to support the job shop in a range of tasks, such as promoting employment and training opportunities, assisting with the creation and facilitation of events and workshops and delivering supportive and friendly customer service.

This role will be customer facing, dealing with queries in person and on the telephone. You will be continuously supported by experienced staff who will assist you with your work and study. The purpose of the Apprentice Project Officer is to support the Job Shop in providing an excellent customer experience to our service users, employers and partners.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking someone who is has a basic knowledge of the Employment and Skills sector and the challenges that some customers may face when entering employment and training.

You must have the ability to both work using your own initiative and work as part of a team to demonstrate a customer driven focus and to help keep the Job Shop an effective service to Job Shop customers and the wider Coventry population. 

For this role, a good level of written and spoken English is required along with good maths skills. A strong understanding of Microsoft packages is desirable for this role. Some customer service experience would also be advantageous but not essential.

The successful candidate will receive on the job training and will be supported to complete the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard and Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required).
